I started out as a writer in advertising but the storytelling skills I learnt there have served me well across many different areas of writing. I’ve written copy for websites, mobile apps, social campaigns, training materials and client presentations. My scriptwriting skills that have won me awards for TV ads have also been put to good use creating films for events, web content, Virtual Reality films, animation explainers, product demos and the odd short film. In addition to the advertising and content sections, below you’ll find some further examples:
DYING MATTERS
We're all going to die
Dying Matters is a national coalition which aims to change public knowledge, attitudes and behaviours towards death, dying and bereavement. It's something we Brits aren't very good at talking about and the copy in this press ad aims to change that with a touch of good old British humour.
KITTI
The good old kitty goes mobile
KiTTi is the up-to-date way of collecting a pot of money. Gone is the jam jar, tupperware tub or pint pot. Now you can download this app to your phone, invite friends to join and start collecting cash for that group summer holiday or the end of season footy team drinks.
Working as part of the team at Monetise Create alongside UI designers and developers, I helped shape the concept, created a tone of voice and developed copy to walk users through the journey taken to sign up and use the app.
MARIE CURIE CANCER CARE
You can see the full campaign in the advertising section but the press work below won the IPA Best of Health-Best Writing award and the tube cards were a close second in the CBS Underground Writer competition. It’s also one of my personal favourite bits of copy.
NATWEST
Bank on me for financial copy
Not the most exciting copy ever written but even simple intructional copy needs a structure to help get its message across. I’ve written a lot of copy for financial clients!
